Submission on DCCEEW Discussion Paper for a renewed National Water Initiative

 

The Wentworth Group has made this submission to the federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water for their consultation process called ‘Seeking views on a future National Water Agreement’. We support the renewal of the National Water Initiative. We advocate for a focus on water issues of national importance such as climate change adaptation, securing Indigenous water rights and interests, meeting water needs for basic human rights, and river system health. We have reviewed and considered the proposed new objectives for the renewed NWI and have made recommendations as to how these could be refined to ensure these are core priorities of renewed NWI.
