Submission to Murray-Darling Basin Authority on Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Draft Determination

The Murray‐Darling Basin Plan is an agreement to recover 3,200 GL of environmental water or equivalent outcomes to help restore the health of the Murray‐Darling Basin. Under Chapter 7 of the Basin Plan, this volume may be reduced if state governments can demonstrate alternative ways of delivering similar outcomes for the environment, as part of a process known as the Sustainable Diversion Limit (SDL) adjustment. In October 2017, the Murray-Darling Basin Authority published the draft determination indicating that the 37 projects proposed by state governments would deliver outcomes equivalent to 605 GL of environmental water. The Wentworth Group has reviewed the projects proposed by state governments against the requirements in the Basin Plan and related policy documents and put forward a submission to the Murray-Darling Basin Authority on the basis of this assessment.
