Australia’s Climate is Changing Australia
In late 2006 the ongoing drought in the Murray-Darling Basin combined with a lack of action on the implementation of the National Water Initiative highlighted the need for a clear statement on the reality of Australia’s water predicament.
In Australia’s Climate is Changing Australia, the Wentworth Group warned that Australia is going to have to get by with a lot less water, a whole lot sooner than we thought. They highlighted that, when the National Water Initiative was agreed, we gave ourselves until 2014 to get water management right. Now nature has taken over the timetable. The Wentworth Group called on Australia to respond by urgently accelerating the agreed water reforms and outlining a way forward.
